Does God expect His Son's disciples to be successful?
Is this
success the same as that defined by the academy or industry or government?
How do these compare? Christians often say to one another, "We're
called to be faithful, not successful."
However, if you do your work "... as
for Christ." and as "an offering to God,"
wouldn't that make you a
success in the world?
Faithful? Successful? Excellent? - What is the "Right Goal?"
is a one-day conference designed to draw
members of the university community into a conversation
regarding the conscious and subconscious goals we all
strive for as members of the academic community.
We need to help each other find answers to all this, so as to faithfully
serve our Lord, be good stewards of His gifts and be Salt and Light in our own
worlds.
In addition to hearing and interacting
with Dr. Terry Morrison on this topic there will be the opportunity to
- Connect: Initiate and deepen
relationships with followers of Christ
who are your academic peers. There will be a healthy mix of graduate
students, faculty, and campus ministers coming not only to participate
in the conference but to invest in one-another for the sake of the Kingdom.
This can continue to be a part of your academic journey through on-line
opportunities provided by
The Emerging Scholars Network.
- Converse: The rare opportunity for discussion of
significant university
issues among colleagues with similar Christian commitment.
- Cart Off: In addition to those which you'll
meet at the conference,
there will also be a wide range of Christian titles and resources to
stimulate future thought and provide the basis for conversation when you
return to campus.
